Launched by the True Story Foundation in 2019, the True Story Award and the True Story Festival send an important signal in support of the role of the media. The world’s first global journalism award recognises outstanding reporting and, in doing so, strengthens journalists around the world in their work. The True Story Award honours courageous reporters from across the globe whose work provides crucial perspectives that help shape public opinion in their home countries. For the award ceremony, they are invited to the True Story Festival in Bern, where they present their work to the audience. Together, the award and the festival offer a multi-faceted view of local events around the world, broadening the perspectives and understanding of readers and festival audiences alike.
